Kek Batik

Yet another recipe…this is an extremely easy one…no baking, no mixing, no processing…it’s just you, the ingredients and a few essential tools! You will never ever go wrong with this recipe!

dsc009211A famous Malay sweet/delicacy especially during the Raya.

Ingredients:

¾ tin condensed milk

125g butter

¾ cup milo powder

½ cup cocoa powder

250g marie biscuits (break into small pieces)

Steps:

  1. Lined a rectangular cake tin or bread mold with cling wrap.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan
  3. When the butter has all melted, add in all the other ingredients except the biscuits.
  4. Keep mixing until the mixture is smooth and silky (just like the shampoo ads…huhu)
  5. Fold in the biscuits until all of them are well coated.
  6. Lay the biscuits into a rectangular cake tin.
  7. Refrigerate until firm.

The original recipe calls for 1½ cup Milo powder but it’s a lil’ too sweet for my liking so I subs part of it with cocoa powder, a richer chocolate taste. And by the way I tried to make some variety outta it and I added in a coat of instant oat…smells really nice I think it would be even better to top them with roasted almond chunks.

When serve, cut the batik cake as you would for fruit cake or cut into smaller bite size pieces (in the picture). You may even serve with a lil’ fresh cream, it should taste even better!

Record Breaking

Another paper done…and by the way I just finished one yesterday morning and just finished another one this evening …

dsc00917

And yes well…

I broke the record…having papers on consecutive days and yet still having the guts to take a trip home last night….for this Korean-tom yam noodle…specially made by my Aunty Fun…

dsc00933

Just couldn’t resist it and I bet you’d agree that a trip home even at the verge of receiving a death note is still worth it!!! (Today’s paper I think I did fairly well though…kakakaka) Huhu…

Yups…gotta keep up my preparation for the remaining papers!

Stress Busters

Chocolates, pringles, super ring, twisties, rice crakers, nori sticks, choco puffs, salt sticks, instant coffee, rainbow sweets, peanut butter cookies, choco pretz and still counting…that’s what we called “STRESS BUSTERS”!!!

Study week and exam weeks with tests and presentations and all other stuff in between are driving us, students, insane! Stress, stress, stress…

Well, maybe not too much stress in our case…instead, the very common words/phrases in our current daily life…”hou sien ar”, “sien lar”, “boring”, “sien”, “very boring ar”…(those who are close to me should understand this miserable feeling)…that’s probably the post-intern symptoms…hehe…then there’ll sure be someone start offering food and snacks…that’s for the sake of taking away our stress and ‘sien-ness’. Guess exam weeks are the time to pile up some kgs…and after that…looking at the mirror one fine day, what’s next…DIET!!! Aih =.=… that’s simply “My life as a student”-thing…don’t you think?

Study Week

Study week is meant to study for the final examination…not. I am now in the midst of preparing the ding dong slides for my FYP1 presentation…felt so sick as the project is totally off track and now has got nothing to present! A combination of a totally-doesn’t-make-sense-presentation slides and a highly-irrelevant-final report is just simply superb. Still wondering how will my presentation turn out later. Just cross my fingers that the examiners will be a little nicer, ie, shoot with a lil’ consideration! Oiks~ ya back to study week, there just not enough time for studying. Gotta prepare for presentation and a test…yes, test on study week! Aih… Liyen, Gambatte ne!

Chocolate Mud Cupcake Cont’

As per requested, the following is the recipe for the choc mud cupcake. This recipe is not exactly the same as in the book that I’d referred to, I’ve halved the portion and added in some cocoa powder. The cocoa powder gives it a richer taste as well as the tempting dark brown color! Anyways…here you go:

Ingredients:

(A)

150 g Chocolate chips

150 g unsalted butter

2 tsp cocoa powder

(B)

3 eggs

60 g caster sugar

(C)

60 g self raising flour

Steps:

1. Preheat oven at 170⁰C.

2. Double boil to melt (A). Leave to cool.

3. Beat (B) until thick and pale using an electric beater.

4. Fold in flour followed by the melted chocolate.

5. Fill in the muffin cases with the chocolate mixture.

6. Bake for 10 minutes.

· Optional: serve warm with ice-cream or a dollop of whipped cream

· Baking time varies with size of muffin so happy trying ya!
