Henna Art

Remember that I said I’ll cover a post on my henna art…it’s been quite some time since the last time I did henna…erm…just let me think…oh ya…during my internship I hennaed a butterfly design on my lil’ cousin’s hand.

For those who has never come across the word “henna”, it’s actually a kind of leaves that produces a brown-orangey dye known as lawsone, having a property in which able to color the pigment of the skin layer. It may sound risky but it somehow would not penetrate deep down into your flesh. The colour tainted on your skin will last for 4 days to 2 weeks depending on the quality of the henna paste. So, it’s considerably safe to use. However, people with skin allergy and have G6PD deficiency are not advisable to apply henna. If you would like to know more, feel free to Google it or make a visit to the wikipedia webbie.

I had first discovered my interest in henna since I really don’t know when. I did make an effort in opening a little stall during the 2007 convocation fair in my uni. I had loads of fun and am really glad I took up the opportunity. But then this year I took part in the Famine 30 camp so I couldn’t make it for this year’s convofair then. Some of my pictures at work:

In conjuction of the Deepavali celebration, my sister suddenly asked me to paint on her both hands…of course I did. I did hers first then I had one on my own hand too. but this time I don’t quite know why the colour didn’t turn out nicely, maybe it was the henna paste that I mixed too much solvent in it.

Capture a couple of pictures before I peel them off!

If there’s anyone who’s interested and i’m nearby and available…let me know in advance, i may be able to take some time to do some henna for you! fyi, charges applied!
