These four days of orientation really gave me an insight of the company business. I have yet to meet my boss but have gotten to know more about semiconductors I suppose. I am like a small little kid there…learning from nothing to at least something now. I remembered during the briefings and talks and sessions could really kill me…I just couldn’t stop myself from yawning and “fishing” all the time when the room was only lit up by that dimmed slide show. And what was worse? (I’m not trying to be racist here) I’m the only chinese and the ONLY engineer in the orientation group. But at the very end of the day the freshies get to walk around the plant and witness all the production processes…The machines are just simply amazing, excuse me for being such a naive girl here. I have never ever witness with my very own eyes…as I have no background at all in this industry. Tomorrow I will be sent to my department to meet my boss and hopefully my boss will refer me to a super good immediate supervisor. Haha…it just seems scary to be in a total strange place..well, at least as compared to the office where I had my industrial attachment. It’s extremely tiring and I felt like wanting to splunge in my bed and close my eyes once i get home…haha… hmmm..it’s just the beginning… =P

First week at work
…
Back to my misery post, one asked “when are you going to learn?” erm…interesting question. Btw when you start judging you’re blinded with complains. Very true I would say. Although I had been placed by Him to those places where I considered “undesirable” but I’ve been through every one of them with something I called valuable lessons. I did my F6 with great pride, involving in school plays, board of librarians and what not ended up with a whole bunch of great people. My uni days? well for me it wasn’t some high-pressured moments, striving to be the best among the rest or to complete my assignments with something extra to get more point BUT…but but but…(boast a bit sin) I get good grades and graduated with my targeted grades!…Just what more I could have asked for? huhu…hopefully this time around I have more of His guidance and blessings too oh… Oh yeah…I accepted the job so peeps…announcing, liyen is no more jobless now. kakaka…and I already have my shopping list when i get my payroll…terrible terrible me…huhu… but my dad say “save not spend!”… -.-”’
Convocation 16 Aug 09
It’s really amazing Liyen can actually n finally graduated! At last I am officially a graduate with a Bachelor in Chem. Eng….*grin*. The convocation ceremony was a tiring one as it so happened that I was in the morning session while Ricky was in the noon session. I had to wake up at 5am n started our journey to UTP at 6am as we had to be at the academic block by 7am. We had to stay there until Ricky had finally ‘released’ from that boring ceremony,at 5.10 PM, minus the 10 seconds we got our scroll from the chancelor and pro-chansellor. Or did I mention who our Chansellor is? Well well…He’s non other than our dear Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohd. =P…Better not bored you to death listening to the whole process…

My jaw is is really really tired!!! Look at that ‘min keong’ smile! huhu

*Happy Happy*

I help you, you help Me… =P

These few days had a lot of fun and was extremely meaningful having the opportunity to bring my friends and their family around. Most of all the whole convo thingy was so touching…seeing my family members coming to celebrate the big day, sending me gifts, flowers and messages and reminding me that I am always remembered and cared for! Suddenly felt a lil’ emo..Or at least I can feel my parents were kinda proud of me at that moment! huhu… Oh ya…let me take this opportunity to thank all who had present and who had sent their well wishes, thanx for my photographers, voon, laikuan and khinfoong, thanx to my dad who drove me around, thanx to my mum for that cutesy bouquet of bears, thanx to my sis, laikein and munyee for always being there, thanx to Aunty Oilee for that pretty lilies, Thanx to y uncles and aunties who sent their well wishes, thanx to my fellow friends who had supported me all along, thanx to all my lecturers especially Dr Muru, thanx for every single piece of advice and thanx for every bit of challenges that made me grow!!! and now i shall sleep! Mummy I Love You!
It has been such a long time since I last updated my bloggie eh…The study week had just gone and the exams weeks are finally here. Well this semester is indeed a leisure period, minus the fyp which progress leads to nowhere, I am only to sit for TWO papers! Are you getting very jealous now? =P but due to this very special day, I had to pen “blog” a few words. MOTHER’S DAY…Although we celebrated on Saturday~ but then spending time with my family, be it short or long, means heaps of treasure to me!
Specially to my Mum, who we call “mah” most of the times, is the greatest! Although her temper’s short and may act like a kid at some point, her goodness is still immeasurable! It’s just too good to have a mum who cooks good food (top priority =P), caring, loving and a good listening ear.
Saturday night we had dinner at Kim Bali a place which serves a wide variety of Asian Food. Food served were not bad at all! And we were smart enough to make booking for the dinner to avoid undesirable long queues and hassles.

(Top) A waiter or rather a good assistant to serve the first Miang Kam wrap to my mum while (below) we, too, enjoying the Thai Salad.

(Top) Miang Kam, a Thai salad a combination of chopped ginger, shallots, lime peel, dried shrimps, peanuts and roasted dessicated coconut wrapped in kadok leave (Lao yip in chinese) topped with a sweet and sour sauce. (Below) my favourite dish: Jawa style lemon grass chicken..mmm….tasty!

Clockwise for top left: Prawns in Butter sauce and sweet and spicy sauce, pucuk paku (wild ferns) in coconut milk (something like that), stir-fry mixed vege and salted fish pork pot. oh..I missed that Assam fish..darn nice too!

Our beloved mummy and daddy!
Group Photo!
Apart from the food, Mum get a nicely wrapped carnation and a special recipe compilation written by the chef of Kim Bali. Wah, indeed a long ads we have here! We had a real great time dining together…
Last but not least,
Mah …. **MUACKS**
Earth Hour 2009
Support the Earth Hour by switching off your lights at 8.30pm (local time) for an hour tomorrow. Yes, it’s 28th March 2009!
I have to admit, at first I thought it was a ridiculous idea having to switch off our lights for an hour. Would that even make any difference? How could that possible make significance in saving our planet? HOWEVER, as a student myself, I am well aware what global warming is and without a doubt it’s getting more serious each second.
This year, even Malaysia is actively joining this movement. Hence, we as a part of the country, and the planet, we should play our part too!
” Two great symbols of the twentieth Century, the Empire State Building in New York and Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, are the latest in the long list of modern marvels turning their lights out for Earth Hour.”
Excerpt from:http://www.earthhour.org/news/default:en/article?id=eh6974755038146759259
I definitely believe that this would create a huge awareness to all the nations that the World needs our little vote. So Vote Earth by switching off your lights! For more information please visit: http://www.earthour.org
Here we go, time for some updates…just last Saturday and Sunday we had a lil’ trip to Cameron Highlands…this time the “we” it’s not just me and Likkei…there were thirteen of us up there spending some real quality time together. I bet everyone had some great time there!
Saturday
Cwei’s house was our set out point. This time our beloved friends were highly efficient reaching just 15 minutes late from the preplanned schedule! Haha…and we headed straight for breakfast somewhere nearby. Although we were not too behind the schedule but…BUT…as always they “chui sui” for soooo looong even at the breakfast place!!!
Clockwise from top: Group picture w/o the photographer!; loading Fa Fa’s car; some pretty flowers even before we reach Cameron.
Our first stop is at the Green View Garden, located at Kampung Raja, just on the way up to Cameron Highlands from Simpang Pulai. The vegetation looked really pretty and they have the BEST strawberry lollies in Cameron! All sorts of fruit jam and desserts are available here!
Clockwise from top: first stop at Green View Garden; mouthwatering desserts; Cwei & Fa Fa sucking enjoying their lollies!
Loads of Strawberries…my photograghy skills not bad eh? =P
clockwise from left: a root of a hydrophonic plant; fresh lettuces, red gerberras, strawberries again…
the guys enjoying their lollies!
Equitorial Hotel is a place we never missed…for the free washrooms and great views!

We then checked in to our apartments at Desa Anthurium. We booked two apartments with three rooms each. The apartments are in good condition and extremely cheap! A big thanx for WoanChin for making a great deal for us! Lunch at Restorant Yeong Wah, Brinchang, and opposite a cactus farm. The price is reasonable and not bad at all!
Makan makan makan!
We had tea at the T-Café at Tanah Rata. It was my favourite place to hang out and have scones and apple pie. I have to say the apple pie is nice as always but this time the scones were a bit off…and they have a new variation of scones…the strawberry scones.
Left: Strawberry scone; right: Apple pie with vanilla ice-cream
We tried to burn some calories before heading for dinner at the park nearby. Just look at those happy faces of our youths today! They are really enjoying it! And make my life easier trying to take some good pictures! Haha…

Ice-cream moments at the night market
It rained a little and we had to rushed back to get our car and headed back to our apartments.
Sunday
Breakfast at Sri Brinchang Mamak stall…Good food, Fair price…(Tanah Rata)

We then stopped at the Multicrops and Kea Farm for some fresh produce…should-buys are: strawberries, sweet corn, sweet potatoes and extremely-small-cherry tomatoes. The long awaited destination..the Boh Tea Farm, brinchang! Free entrance which offers a wide array of tea products and a open view of their factory. Not forgetting the gorgeous breathtaking views of the tea plantation!
a multimillion ads!
What more can i say?
A group picture at last!
Reena, Woanchin, Tling, Cwei, Siewfoong, Waikit, CheeKang, Kum, Kharyau, OonLam, Likkei, Me, Fa Fa
A piece of advice: it’s always good to bring along an air freshener as most of the apartments/rooms for rent have funny smell!
I am glad to say, with a fairly good planning we only spent RM87 each on the 2 apartments, breakfast, lunches, dinner, tea and petrol.
March Babies 2009
March just simply filled up with the joy of the birthday boys and girls…this week alone, we celebrated the birthdays of our dear friends, Kang kang and Fa Fa…hope you guys don’t mind me calling out those rather “affectionate” names! Hahaha…
Being an extreme sweettooth myself I just couldn’t stop staring at cakes and what not, whatever that’s soft, spongy, chocolaty, creamy, pretty, dainty that just simply spell D.E.S.S.E.R.T. . Putting that aside, the joy of sharing those pretty moments indulging them is something I love most!
This time, more on the bday boys and less on the food we’d shared!

My little brother…we shared a meal at a Korean restaurant.

And also a big Happy birthday to Munyee, Zixuan (bebe). Han Yi, Shosann and Oonlam
Trip to China
Our trip to China this time is indeed an incredible one. A ‘mission impossible’ that we never thought we could achieve with just a single trip is now accomplished in only a mere three days!!! Guess I gotta spill what our mission was. Well well, our mission to China was to find or rather to locate our REAL Hometown, ie to locate the origin of my grandpa, great grandpa and so on. It all started when…
One fine day, my third sister and I were suddenly so gungho in seeking lil’ information about our past generations. We were both oh so keen in asking dad about grandpa and grandma. He looked so enthusiast and kept telling us every bit that he knew. He even took out a letter written by my grandma’s lil’ brother (grand uncle) back in 1988. We somehow sensed that dad wanted to seek if there’s any of our relatives still residing in OUR hometown. And so we came up with an idea to plan out a trip in search of the origin of our ancestors, we called it a sistrip as this is the first time we four sisters went out for a true mission! My eldest sis (Kein) and third sis (Kuan) went scouting for information on the location and the contacts that may help throughout our journey. Well, I must say they did a great job in planning a smooth trip after all! And of course forging out a large sum of financial aid to support this trip..hahaha…and here we go…
20 Feb 09 (Friday)
We first reached Shenzen international airport late evening and were escorted by Kuan’s fellow friend (Alfa) to our Hotel (Four Point Sheraton). We had a good rest and made some plans for our stay in Shenzen before setting out for our mission.

In e Plane
Dinner time…straight after checking in
21 Feb 09 (Saturday)
Our first stop to the Shenzen famous tourist spot, Windows of the World 世界之窗, which made a journey “around the World in 6 hours” made possible. I must say this spot is a must to hang around!

That guy in red is Alfa…Xiao Mao Mi…hehehe

Yah~ Keep Posing!

Aih~ tak habis habis nak pose!
Yups, these are real!
For a shopaholic like my eldest sis, “Tung Men” 东门 was then our next stop! The locals called it ‘The Women’s World’! haha…which was indeed very true! You can find everything from head to toe with multi million types of accessories and all! Cool huh?

Dinner at 真功夫…Chinese fast food at 东门

22 Feb 09 (Sunday)
Since we made a trip to see the world, then it’s time for us to see the great heritage of China and its magnificent architecture. The best places are the Splendid China and China Folk Culture Villages located next to each other. We were able to witness the miniature of all the historical buildings in China as well as the culture of every minority (tribes) in rural China.

Breakfast again…

Nice arrangement eh?

Lunch
These two days was really tiring as we did walked almost 12 hours a day! Thanx to Alfa for being a good tour guide! A good rest is necessary to continue our journey!
23 Feb 09 (Monday)
We set out rather early, boarded a bus to HuiZhou. Based on the information gathered this should be the nearest pit stop for our mission. Here in HuiZhou 惠州 we were welcome by Aunty Ho, Kein’s colleague’s sister. She is the best tour guide in HuiZhou. She booked us a room at the Sea Dragon Hotel and even cook us food throughout our stay in HuiZhou! We could not thank her enough for her kind hospitality!
Breakfast before setting out to HuiZhou

“Wooden Wool Flowers” : direct translation…=P
In the late noon we make our first stop at the state’s government office to scout for more information. The personnel in the related department were oh so helpful and even got us some contacts which were of great help! We immediately get in contact with the YuanZhou’s government personnel, Mr Leong. We gave him all our information regarding our past generations. It was really amazing that Mr Leong gave us feed back on his findings and even able to get in contact with the people from the villages, which were believed to be the origins of my grandpa and grandma, on the very same day! However, we had to wait till the next day to travel to those villages. Of course we never missed a chance to discover more on China. During that evening we m,anaged to find time to hang around the state and get a good view of HuiZhou West Lake, “游四湖”. Haha…the scenes were just simple breathtaking! Judge it yourself!
Look at those reflections in the lake…Beautiful!

Cool eh?
桃花 (not sure if these are the correct chinese characters..huhu)
24 Feb 09 (Tuesday)
We met up with Mr Leong and he brought us to “tit lou hang” to meet Mr Lau, well, it’s just so silly to called him that way as 90% of the villagers carry the surname “Lau”! Mr. PH Lau should be more appropriate. He then introduced us the the authorities in charged on the village. There we get to look into the Lau’s family records. With the very few information, we somehow able to locate our great grandpa’s name in that record. However, my grandpa’s name was not recorded clearly. Then here come Uncle Pong, a really helpful uncle who went to investigate the past generations by ‘interviewing’ the older people in the village. There was this oldman in his 90s who had some blur memory on my great grandpa and grandpa himself. And so we made a conclusion that the record was 80% true! We were really touched that the mission went on so smoothly. Mr PH Lau kept asking us to stay in that town for a few days so that we could get to know the older ones. But his kindness were really too much for us to accept. So we went back to HuiZhou and continue our mission in search of my grandma’s brother.

Dim Sum early in the morning

Meeting the elders in the village

More food! the soup is darn nice!!! Slurp

Around the village..again…look at those gorgeous reflections!
The sisters at work…
25 Feb 09 (Wednesday)
Since we did not get much feed back on grandma’s side so we had to stay at HuiZhou praying that Mr Leong will update us on any findings he could get.Later that day Mr Leong called and with full excitement blurted “found them already!”…haha, we were so touched and ta the same time seems so impossible. The information he gave was rather blurry and we immediately plan our trip to the village the next day!
Market place somewhere near Aunty Ho’s home
26 Feb 09 (Thurday)
Very early in the morning, once again we meet up Mr Leong and set out to another village, ‘ji tou chuen’. There we went straight to the village’s main office to look out for their secretary, Mr Tham, again there were more than 90% of the population carrying the surname Tham (so is my grandma). Sect. Tham explained to us that our GrandUncle is on his way with his children to meet us. WOW…isn’t that simply amazing. We waited for some time then he came in with some of his children. Of course we did not immediately be certain that he is the one we are searching for. After some chatting we could not be surer that he is the one! He could even remember our dad’s name and our home address!!! Wow…all we did was stood there speechless with tears in our eyes! It was such a touching scene!
Look! my Grandma’s brother…a mission accomplished! The rest are all my uncle and aunties!!!
Later that evening we went back to our great grandpa’s village for a dinner held annually specially for the older ones. There we were able to meet even more of the villagers still residing there. It was such an unforgettable experience!

Left: Mr PH Lau standing right in the middle
27 Feb 09 (Friday)
A good day rest is just appropriate after a long journey. All we did was just to walk around near our hotel at ShaJing and had a comfy foot massage. We then make time to meet up with Kuan’s friends for a seafood dinner! =P

Sun You (Kuan’s friend), Alfa and Kuan
28 Feb 09 (Saturday)
And we’re once again back to our very own home! And we had a grand birthday party celebration for my second Sis MunYee, Brother, Bebe, Aunty FookHan, and Cousin Shosann, the March babies! Phew…yet another tiring day!

Hola…Last but not least, a great big hugs of appreciation to all who had taken part in our lil’ mission…special thanx to Mr Leong form the YuenZhou’s Gov., Aunty Ho, Uncle PH Lau, Uncle Pong, Sect. Tham, and Mr Chauffeur. Not forgetting our dear tour guide Alfa and all my dear sisters! Thanx for an incredible journey! *HUGS*
- This makes the longest post ever!!! =P -

Stress Busters
Chocolates, pringles, super ring, twisties, rice crakers, nori sticks, choco puffs, salt sticks, instant coffee, rainbow sweets, peanut butter cookies, choco pretz and still counting…that’s what we called “STRESS BUSTERS”!!!
Study week and exam weeks with tests and presentations and all other stuff in between are driving us, students, insane! Stress, stress, stress…
Well, maybe not too much stress in our case…instead, the very common words/phrases in our current daily life…”hou sien ar”, “sien lar”, “boring”, “sien”, “very boring ar”…(those who are close to me should understand this miserable feeling)…that’s probably the post-intern symptoms…hehe…then there’ll sure be someone start offering food and snacks…that’s for the sake of taking away our stress and ‘sien-ness’. Guess exam weeks are the time to pile up some kgs…and after that…looking at the mirror one fine day, what’s next…DIET!!! Aih =.=… that’s simply “My life as a student”-thing…don’t you think?
(* 90% of the snacks belongs to my roomie ler…I only contribute 10% jek…now you know who’s the culprit responsible for the weight-gaining scheme!!!) … ops…joking jek…=P
WHEN’S HOLS???
